IT (In Touch) – a pilot has been initiated to follow up PWID who are on ART in order to promote adherence. This one year pilot has been supported by MAINLINE through the BtGs initiative.

In many resource-limited settings like in Pakistan a well developed cellular telecommunication networks and mobile phone ownership and usage worldwide has grown dramatically. Mobile phones have been shown to improve chronic disease management in developed countries and have been proposed as a potential strategy to support ART adherence in developing countries.

The AAU unit is being complemented and supported to initiate IT and improve adherence to antiretroviral treatment through text message reminders and thrice a week phone calls by the follow up counselors to the AAU graduates.
