Mr. Mohammad Saleem Rajput, Deputy Commissioner District South, Karachi chaired the inaugural session of the recently established ‘District AIDS Council’ (DAC) an initiative of Nai Zindagi under the Global Fund SSF – HIV grant.
The meeting was well attended by representatives from Police department, Health department, Education department and civil society of Karachi South. The District AIDS Council will provide guidance to Nai Zindagi’s team operating in South Karachi District and will monitor progress on a regular basis. It was decided that the DAC will meet on a monthly basis in order to further improve the quality and scale of rights based services for the program beneficiaries.
Deputy Commissioner District South extended full cooperation to the Nai Zindagi team. Furthermore, he asked that a letter from his office should be issued supporting the staff of NZ enabling them to work in the district without facing field related police and other issues.
