Mr. Mark Dybul, Executive Director of the Global Fund met with a large group of over 80 persons living with HIV who are currently on Anti Reteroviral Treatment and are at the ART Adherence Unit for people who use drugs in Bara Kau, Islamabad. This unit is supported by Mainline Foundation and managed by Nai Zindagi Trust also a principal recipient of the Global Fund grant for HIV in Pakistan. This consultation was widely attended by representatives of UNAIDS, National AIDS Control Program and the LFA of the Global Fund. The Association of People Living with HIV (APLHIV) were also present at this meeting and highlighted the role of the Association to ensure quality services for persons affected by HIV and AIDS in Pakistan. A vast majority of the participants expressed a need for more drug treatment and ART adherence units across Pakistan and additional support to special clinics that provide ART.
