Ms. Agnes Dzokoto and Ms. Meiwen Zhang from The Global Fund visited Nai Zindagi Pakistan form 13th November to 18th November 2015. The purpose of the visit and subsequent meetings were to contextualize and thoroughly study program data available with Nai Zindagi the Principal Recipient for the Global Fund SSF Grant to Pakistan mandated to implement objective – 1 of the grant; “Scale up comprehensive HIV prevention and harm reduction services to 34,000 PWID, families and sex partners of PWID in selected districts in Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Baluchistan provinces (37% of the total national estimated 91,000 PWID).”
Data was extracted from web based Nai Zindagi Management Information System (NZMIS) being managed by MIS team at PR Office. The purpose was to conduct preliminary analysis with overall aim of determining factors driving HIV seroconversion among people who inject drugs accessing services, to evaluate the prevalence of HIV among PWID enrolled in the Nai Zindagi program from 2012 to 2015 and to measure the annual and cumulative incidence of HIV among PWIDs.
A three days’ workshop was arranged for organizing the data set which was achieved, the cumulative annualised incidence and prevalence analysis by intensity of program and also CoPC+ site wise was completed using statistical model. The team also visited Rawalpindi CoPC+ site and spots for in-depth understanding of the program and interaction with direct beneficiaries of the program. Nai Zindagi greatly benefited from the visit for analysis of data and way forward in programming after the final report and recommendations are available.
