HIV/TB Gender Assessment Tool Workshop was held on 21st-24th July 2015 in Johannesburg, South Africa. UNAIDS Regional Support Team for Eastern and Southern Africa hosted comprehensive HIV/TB Gender Assessment Tool Workshop. The workshop was held with collaboration of UNAIDS with The Stop TB Partnership and the Global Fund.

The main aim was to support countries that wish to improve their ability to analyze TB and HIV programming in a gender sensitive manner. The Stop TB Partnership has worked closely with UNAIDS to extend the existing HIV gender assessment tool to include TB and have developed the tool for national HIV and TB responses hereinafter the HIV/TB Gender Assessment Tool.

The objectives of the workshop were to provide participants with the methodology recommended for implementing the toolkit in country through past field experiences and to strengthen the capacity of TB activists and gender equality advocates to engage at country level with TB national planning processes including those linked to the Global Fund and its new funding model (NFM) from a gender equality perspective. Nai Zindagi being the lead civil society organization from Pakistan was well presented and new dimensions in TB/HIV co infection were strongly advocated.
