Mr. Syed Shujat Hussain, Additional Deputy Commissioner District Central, Karachi chaired the second session of the established ‘District AIDS Council’ (DAC) an initiative of Nai Zindagi under the Global Fund SSF – HIV grant.
The meeting was well attended by representatives from Police department, Health department, Education department and civil society of Karachi District Central. The District AIDS Council will provide guidance to Nai Zindagi’s team operating in Karachi District Central and will monitor progress on a regular basis. It was decided that the DAC will meet on a monthly basis in order to further improve the quality and scale of rights based services for the program beneficiaries.
ADC-1, Mr. Syed Shujat Hussain appreciated the services of Nai Zindagi and ensured all possible support in District Central. Furthermore, he asked Nai Zindagi and Pakistan Society to share the staff details for issuance of special cards to field staff from Office of The Deputy Commissioner- Central; this will enable them to work in the district without facing field related police and other issues. DSP Mr. Amin ur Rehman assured his full support.
