Nai Zindagi is in the process of establishing satellite CoPC+ sites in Bannu, Swat, Lower Dir, Kohat, Mardan & Charsadda districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province for the provision of HIV prevention and harm reduction services to people who inject drugs (PWID) and their families. In this regard a training workshop was organized for the newly recruited staff in Islamabad during August 10-15, 2020.

Six-day training workshop was aimed at enhancing the capacity and professional skills of the staff so that they are able to perform their duties in line with the project objectives. The key topics that were covered during the training workshop included modalities of outreach services, HIV transmission risks and prevention strategies, HIV testing, diagnosis and linkages to care, addressing stigma and discrimination associated with HIV and drug use, Bio safety protocols for service delivery as well as reporting and monitoring mechanisms.

The training was imparted using multiple approaches including interactive sessions, role plays, development of communication messages and group work. The training also included a field visit to CoPC+ site in Rawalpindi to provide the participants an insight of the actual field dynamics.

The training is going to support the project staff in initiating service delivery for PWID and their families in respective districts shortly.
